Release: AVXCD002 - Test Flight
Test FlightTest Flight is the 2nd demo compilation released by Avionix Recordings. Originally released as a limited-edition CD that was available at club nights and associated gigs, all copies of this CD have now been sold. However, we decided that it shouldn’t just be the lucky few who get to hear the material on the CD, so all the tracks have been made available for download in MP3 format.

Test Flight serves as a taster of our forthcoming releases and we hope you will agree that it's pretty damn worthy. Featuring tracks from Andy Piper, Patrick Walker, Lodestar, B*Wilder, Tobias Schmidt (as part of X-Group alongside Lodestar) and DR Air, this CD is a reflection of our club-focused music, touching on Micro House, Minimal Techno, Electro-Tech and Wobbly Funk.

First on the CD is Monolink by Patrick Walker. A slice of jacking minimal tech-house with a shuffling groove and nice, fat sub-bass, its right at home on the dancefloor and is a fitting warm-up for the rest of the compilation.

Next up, Walker dons his SD_Kidd guise and picks things up a little with Cat Protocol. Described by the man himself as “Kickin' club tech on an abstract tip”, it follows the glitch mould of many a track to be found on the Perlon and Spectral labels, particularly the work of Akufen. Expect dancefloor pandemonium if you ever hear this on a night out.

Dr AIR then joins the fray with Wolstan. The Super-Scientist provides us with a wobbly, mashup glitch excursion from outer space with a dark analogue feel and proper ass-shaking funk.

The compilation then briefly changes gear into Deep House Mode with Stimulus by Andy Piper. This is a slow builder of a track with heavy Basic-Channel influences. The intro effectively takes up half of the track’s duration, but the strings and deep chords combine to form a perfect build-up for when the beats are dropped. That first “proper” kickdrum alone will fill the ‘floor.

Switching gears again, this time into the territory of dark tech-house, is the SCSI Fucker remix of B*Wilder’s Froger Tre. The Fucker takes B*Wilder’s pounder of a track and gives it a healthy dose of shuffle-funk, while B*Wilder’s trademark twisted vocal samples provide a menacing edge. This one is guaranteed to get the dancefloor moving.

Lodestar’s Performance Test combines a seriously pounding bassdrum with slow, dark strings, detailed bleep-glitch analogue percussion and robotic vocal samples. Needless to say, the test passes with flying colours.

Tobias Schmidt teams up with Lodestar to become X-Group for the guest track on the compilation. Wasting Away is dancefloor electro that combines a gritty bass with a pounding beat, classic techno percussion, fat analogue lead sounds and a more than just a glitch or two.

Rounding things off is that man Walker, again in his SD Kidd disguise with a remix of Elastobabe’s Stone Cut Zero. Wobbly bass, driving beats and the trademark shuffle-funk combine for a guaranteed ass-shaker.
