About: Avionix Recordings |
Founded in 2002, Avionix Recordings began life as a creative outlet for
musicians specialising in electronic and dance music. Having gained
momentum since its conception, Avionix's ideals and output have both
since expanded: Avionix has grown to become a collective of talented
musicians, producers, sound engineers and audio-visual designers
capable of producing high-tech audio solutions for a range of projects
encompassing computer games, web design, multimedia and film.
This shift in the Avionix mandate has by no means sidelined its roots
in electronic music, rather it has shaped and formed our approach into
a richly textured approach that is suitable for almost any situation.
It is as fitting for soundtrack work as it is for the nightclub
dancefloor and also home listening.
Our
artists enjoy widespread exposure with the underground electronic music
community with the tracks that are featured on this - and other -
websites being enjoyed all over the world. Additionally, the Avionix
roster also perform across the UK and release on various digital
formats, all of which help generate interest from all corners of the
electronic music spectrum.
This expertise in
highly-technological music makes us an ideal choice for creative
directors wanting to add that extra appeal to a product by way of high
impact soundtracks for adverts, or for film directors wanting to add
extra dimension to their work by adding tailor-made soundtracks to
their projects. Not only do Avionix artists use cutting-edge technology
to produce their works, they have a firm understanding of the creative
processes employed across a vast range of projects, ensuring that
flexibility and creativity is always tempered with a high level of
integrity and attention to detail. Our expertise in this area also
ensures that we can not only produce full musical solutions such as
theme tunes, tension building backdrops and explosive all-out sound
assaults, but we can also provide sound-bites and a full range of sound
FX for any given project.
This site contains examples of
projects in which we are currently involved, music to download, Avionix
merchandise, artist and designer biographies, links to other labels,
resources for producers, directors and musicians, as well as a wealth
of other material for you to enjoy such as interviews, movie clips and
much more.
At present, there is no charge for any of the
material available on this site - the resources are there to be used by
all. We want to share our output with like-minded individuals, labels,
musicians and fans alike. However, we do ask that we are credited
wherever relevant and also that you provide us with feedback where
possible.
Our Ideology
The overriding theme
employed throughout our work is the ideal that similar goals and
objectives can be achieved through many means. As an example, consider
the complex forms that have been evolved in the natural world in order
to achieve flight and compare this against the way that humankind has
used to emulate this through use of technology. These strategies are
wildly different, but are also equally effective in their goal.
Applying this idea to our work, we employ a vast range of techniques:
some digital, some analogue and some wholly unorthodox - such as the
use of custom-made equipment - to produce work which can be highly
precise but tempered with an organic feel.
The idea of flight
appeals to our collective creativity as a species: humankind has always
dreamt of having the power of flight. Whilst some may argue that this
has in some ways caused great disruption to the balance of nature, it
has also been a driving force in pushing the boundaries of
technological achievement: it continues to change the way we live our
lives and help others to do the same. We hope that the advance of
technology will one day solve many of the problems which the world
faces as a whole and help to provide a stable sustainable quality of
living for all. This must, however, be balanced with the realisation
that progress can often bring about drastic and destructive change.
Therefore sensitivity must be employed to ensure that the march forward
does not leave a trail of destruction in it's path.
Whilst this
might seem somewhat abstract for our purposes, it is worth considering
that the march forward in technology also changes the way in which we
enjoy films, listen to music and so on. Therefore it is highly relevant
to us that, whilst the advances in technology continue to help shape
the way in which we ourselves produce our works, it is important that
we retain our sense of humanity and take control of the technology we
have available and use it in a positive way, rather than allowing
technology to control us.
To this end, we are continually
seeking out new methods of producing our work and do not feel bound by
any 'Industry Standard' in terms of production. Though we are suitably
sensitive to the need for a format in which to present our output, we
can often be found utilising techniques to the contrary of their
intended purpose. The use of analogue FX pedals as instruments and
sound sources in their own right and employing digital waveform editors
as performance tools are typical examples of this approach. The
practical applications are endless and we pride ourselves in the unique
inventiveness that our artists employ to achieve an array of complex
and intelligent results. |
